Job Description

The role

Pymble Ladies' College is renowned for its beautiful campus, outstanding facilities and commitment to excellence in education. Our expansive and meticulously maintained grounds are a defining feature of the College, providing a vibrant environment that supports learning, wellbeing and community life.

We are seeking a passionate and experienced Horticulturist to join our team. This role is ideal for someone who takes pride in maintaining exceptional landscapes and enjoys working in a collaborative environment where attention to detail and quality presentation are paramount. Experience working with formal or display gardens, along with the ability to plan and forecast landscaping needs, will be key to success in this position. A strong understanding of seasonal planting and a proactive approach will complement our existing team.

Reporting to the Leading Hand Horticulture and Grounds, the Horticulturist will work closely within a tight-knit team who take pride in their work, adopt a proactive approach, and immerse themselves in College life.

You will demonstrate the following attributes and capabilities:

  • Willingness to support the ethos and values of the College
  • Certificate III in Horticulture or Parks and Gardens
  • Hold Chemical Application Certification or the willingness to obtain
  • Demonstrated knowledge of relevant legislation including the WHS Act 2011, WHS Regulations 2017 and SafeWork NSW requirements
  • Possess sound knowledge of plant identification and pest management
  • Unrestricted Drivers Licence
  • Demonstrated ability to undertake a broad range of tasks including horticultural maintenance, operation of plant, vehicles, equipment, and tools 
  • Display initiative coupled with excellent attention to detail
  • A proven commitment to safety in the workplace
  • Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills 
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively within a team and independently
  • Physical fitness to enable hands on responsibilities associated with the role
  • Demonstrated commitment to continuous improvement 
  • Ability to demonstrate professional conduct and discretion at all times
